“Watercolor is the medium that comes most naturally to me. I am drawn to its transparency, fluidity and lightness. The interaction between water, pigments and paper is challenging, sometimes unpredictable, yet so fulfilling to work with. My paintings are personal narratives. They depict specific places, moments and themes that have been meaningful to me throughout my life. My first watercolor was a portrait of my grandfather sitting and sipping tea at his mountain house. I wanted to capture his dignified presence and calmness.”
